TMCRAFT 128oz Nitro Cold Brew Keg Review: Big Keg, Smaller Nitro Pour

TMCRAFT's nitro keg is a black powder-coated, 304 stainless steel keg with a stout creamer faucet, designed to infuse cold brew with nitrogen or nitrous oxide from small cartridges and pour it with a cafe-style cascade. It is sold as a 128 oz keg that fits a standard fridge. The name promises a gallon, and that is the first thing to understand, because the amount you can actually turn into foamy nitro coffee is noticeably smaller.

TL;DRThe Short Answer: Is the TMCRAFT 128oz Nitro Cold Brew Keg Worth It?

Nitro cold brew on tap is the promise, but you will not pour the gallon on the label: gas needs headspace, one owner found a max fill line well below 128 oz, and a full keg pours flat. Fill it partway, chill it and charge it properly, and the stout faucet delivers a creamy pour. Expect trial and error with cartridges, bought separately, and a tap that can drip. Choose it for regular nitro, not a party gallon.

NoFussDeal rates the TMCRAFT 128oz Nitro Cold Brew Keg 4.1 out of 5 at $139.99. Last updated September 27, 2026.

Features in Depth

N2 or N2O Infusion

Nitrogen (N2) Two 2g cartridges Nitrous Oxide (N2O) One 8g cartridge Cartridges Not included

TMCRAFT's keg works with two gases, and the choice changes the drink. Nitrogen, from two 2g N2 cartridges per TMCRAFT's guidance, gives the classic nitro cold brew: a cascading pour and a smooth, silky mouthfeel without added sweetness. Because nitrogen dissolves poorly, it depends heavily on pressure, cold coffee and time. Nitrous oxide, from one 8g N2O cartridge, dissolves far more easily and produces a thicker cold foam that tastes slightly sweeter. That is why one owner recommends using whipped cream chargers, which are N2O, for a mildly sweet result with less fuss. Cartridges are not included, so you will need to buy them before your first batch. The instructions' cartridge count is a starting point rather than a rule. One owner working with the larger keg was advised to use four 2g nitrogen cartridges instead of two, and another who used two as directed got no foam at all. Start with the recommended amount and add more if the pour comes out flat.

Capacity and the Fill Line

Sold As 128 oz Max Fill Line Marked at 96 oz Best Foam Filled below the line

The keg is sold as 128 oz, and that is the figure most likely to disappoint. Pressurised infusion needs headspace: the gas sits above the liquid and is pushed into it under pressure, so a keg filled to the top leaves the gas nowhere to work and the coffee pours flat. One owner found the keg marked with a max fill line at 96 oz, and one who wanted it for small parties found it held only about 80 oz of usable coffee, which barely stretched around. Another says plainly that a full keg will not foam and just acts as a cold brew pump. So think of it as a keg that holds a gallon of steel volume but serves roughly three-quarters of that, or less, as proper nitro. For one or two coffee drinkers, that is still several days of cold brew on tap; for a gathering, it may not go as far as the label suggests. Filling below the line also improves foam, since more headspace means more gas.

Stout Faucet and Pouring

Faucet Stout creamer faucet Tap Handle Black plastic Known Issue Tap can drip

The stout creamer faucet is what turns gassed coffee into a nitro pour. Inside it, a restrictor forces the coffee through small openings, which knocks the dissolved gas out into fine bubbles and creates the cascade and creamy head you see in a cafe. TMCRAFT describes the faucet as upgraded for smooth, no-leak pouring, but owners do not all agree on the leak part: one keeps a small dish under the tap in the fridge to catch drips. Pull the handle fully open when pouring, since a half-open stout tap gives a weaker head, and pour into a tilted glass before straightening it. Owners who got the process right rate the taste highly, and one owner who enjoys it calls it super convenient and easy to use, even while still working out how to get consistent foam. The black plastic tap handle is part of the included components, alongside the spear body with its pressure relieving valve.

Build, Size and Support

Material 304 stainless steel Dimensions 7.3 x 7.6 x 18.9 inches Warranty One year

The keg is made from food-grade 304 stainless steel, which resists rust and does not flavour the coffee, with a black powder coating to guard against scratches in use. The components feel well made, and one owner rates their quality highly. The whole keg measures 7.3 x 7.6 x 18.9 inches, and TMCRAFT says it fits a standard home fridge or cooler; the height is the dimension to check, since it needs a shelf with nearly 19 inches of clearance. An installation and cleaning kit comes in the box, and the keg comes apart for cleaning. Quality control is not perfect. One buyer's new unit arrived delayed and covered in scratches and rub marks, looking used, which is worth checking for on arrival. Support is a strength: TMCRAFT offers a one-year warranty and round-the-clock messaging, and when one owner's cascade fell short, the manufacturer sent a replacement keg and tap quickly on the chance the first was faulty.

What Buyers Say

Owners who get it working enjoy the convenience of nitro cold brew on tap at home and rate the components as well made, and the manufacturer earns credit for sending a replacement keg and tap quickly. The complaints are about capacity and foam. One owner found a max fill line well below 128 oz, a full keg does not foam, and getting a good cascade consistently takes trial and error. A dripping tap and a unit that arrived scratched round out the criticism.

love it, there are buts though

Love it, but it doesn't hold the volume it says if you want nitro. If you fill it, it will not foam, it's just a cold brew pump. I still can't figure out how to consistently get good foam fr… Read it on Amazon

Works great

Works great for the nitro cold brew coffee. I recommend using the whipped cream cartridges to charge the dispenser. Give the coffee a very mild sweetness.

Setting It Up

  1. Clean and assemble

Wash the keg, spear and faucet with the included cleaning kit, then assemble the tap and pressure relieving valve following the instructions.

  2. Fill with cold coffee

Add well-chilled cold brew and stay at or below the max fill line, leaving headspace for the gas.

  3. Charge the keg

Insert one 8g N2O cartridge for sweet foam, or two 2g N2 cartridges for a cascade, waiting between cartridges.

  4. Shake and chill

Shake the keg firmly to help the gas dissolve, then refrigerate it, ideally overnight.

  5. Pour and adjust

Open the stout tap fully into a tilted glass. If the pour is flat, add another cartridge next time or fill a little less.

Common Questions

Does it really hold 128 oz?

Not as nitro. One owner found a max fill line marked at 96 oz, and a full keg will not foam because the gas needs headspace.

Should I use nitrogen or nitrous oxide?

Two 2g N2 cartridges give the classic cascade and smooth texture. One 8g N2O cartridge, such as a whipped cream charger, gives a sweeter, thicker foam.

Are cartridges included?

No. N2 or N2O cartridges are sold separately, so buy some before your first batch.

Why is my nitro coming out flat?

Usually too little headspace, coffee that is not cold enough, or too little gas. Fill below the line, chill the coffee, shake after charging and try an extra cartridge.

Will it fit in my fridge?

It measures 7.3 x 7.6 x 18.9 inches and TMCRAFT says it fits a standard home fridge, but check you have nearly 19 inches of shelf height.

What warranty does it have?

A one-year warranty, with support through Amazon messaging. One owner received a replacement keg and tap quickly.

The Verdict

4.1Out of 5

TMCRAFT's keg is a well-built way to have nitro cold brew on tap at home. The 304 stainless body, stout creamer faucet and pressure relieving valve feel solid, it takes either nitrogen or nitrous oxide cartridges, and TMCRAFT backs it with a one-year warranty and quick replacements. The catch is the gallon on the label. Gas needs headspace, one owner found a max fill line at 96 oz, and a full keg pours flat, so real nitro capacity is well below 128 oz. Foam also takes practice: cold coffee, shaking, time and often more cartridges than the instructions suggest. Add a tap that can drip and cartridges sold separately, and it suits coffee lovers who will make nitro regularly and enjoy dialling it in, rather than anyone expecting a party gallon from the first try.

Who should buy it

  • Regular nitro cold brew drinkers at home
  • Offices that want nitro coffee on tap through the week.
  • Tinkerers happy to experiment with cartridges and fill levels.

Who should skip it

  • Hosts who need a full gallon of nitro for a party.
  • Anyone who wants perfect foam without trial and error.
  • Fridges without about 19 inches of shelf clearance.

A solid stainless nitro keg that rewards practice, as long as you plan around the real fill volume.
