How wide is the ARCCTV Q01's field of view, and does it actually eliminate blind spots?
The camera turns 355 degrees horizontally and tilts 90 degrees, both controlled remotely from the app rather than fixed at install time. Combined with the 2560x1440P (4MP) sensor, that range sweeps from one side of a yard to the other without moving the mount: a genuine pan-tilt camera, not a wide fixed lens. It does not see the full circle in a single frame, since it records wherever it is pointing, but the rotation range and a clear picture make coverage around one mounting point a real strength.
Does the solar panel really keep the battery charged, or will I still need to plug it in?
ARCCTV says the built-in panel keeps the rechargeable battery continuously charged, even on cloudy days. In a sunny spot that holds, and you may never think about charging at all. But battery life is not consistent, and results depend on sun at the mounting spot and on how much motion the camera records. A shaded or north-facing location recharges more slowly than an open, sunny wall, so do not assume solar means zero maintenance wherever you put it.
How reliable is motion detection, and are notifications fast?
Motion is picked up by a PIR sensor, which triggers both recording and an alert on your phone. Both motion detection and notifications are inconsistent: accuracy and timing can be good, but missed or late alerts also happen. PIR sensors in general can be tripped by warm moving objects such as cars and animals and can miss slow movement, and a weak WiFi signal delays alerts further. If alert speed and precision matter most, adjust sensitivity in the app and watch how it behaves at your site before relying on it.
Can I use this camera without WiFi, or does it run on a cellular/SIM connection?
It needs WiFi. The Q01 is a WiFi camera, not a cellular one: it connects over dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi, choosing the better band automatically, and also lists Bluetooth. ARCCTV advises doing the first setup close to the router and keeping the camera inside your WiFi coverage afterwards. If the spot you want to watch has no WiFi, look for a camera built for cellular data instead.
What is the actual night vision range, and is footage color or black-and-white at night?
ARCCTV rates night vision to 33 feet and describes it as colour night vision, using the built-in spotlight so footage can stay in colour after dark. Night vision is one of its strengths, alongside picture quality in general, and the image at night is clear and bright. How much detail you get at the far end of that range will still depend on other light around and on anything in the way.
Is this camera worth the price, and how does storage work?
For a solar pan-tilt camera with 4MP video, dual-band WiFi and two-way audio, the Q01 is modestly priced, though whether it is good value depends largely on battery life and connectivity at your site. Storage is flexible: record motion events locally to a microSD card, sold separately, with no subscription, and play them back in the app, or pay for cloud storage, which backs footage up off the camera and adds AI event tagging. If your mounting spot has good sun and signal, it is good value; if not, weigh those weaknesses carefully.
