VORTEX Showerhead Brewing
Russell Hobbs' VORTEX Technology spreads hot water over the coffee grounds so they are soaked evenly, which is where a drip machine's flavour is won or lost.
The Russell Hobbs CM4300BR Coventry 8-Cup Coffeemaker is a simple brewer with a smooth cup, best for coffee lovers. Rated 4.2 out of 5 across 64 user ratings. The main drawback: needs #4 cone paper filters despite the reusable basket. We scored it 4.2 out of 5.
Great coffee from a machine with almost no features is the Coventry's whole pitch, and it mostly delivers. Its VORTEX showerhead soaks the grounds evenly and the result is smooth, without bitterness. The trade-offs are practical: it brews only 8 cups in a body some people find bulky, it has no timer, and despite its reusable basket you still need #4 cone paper filters.
NoFussDeal rates the Russell Hobbs CM4300BR Coventry 8-Cup Coffeemaker 4.2 out of 5 at $60.36. Last updated September 26, 2026.
Russell Hobbs' VORTEX Technology spreads hot water over the coffee grounds so they are soaked evenly, which is where a drip machine's flavour is won or lost.
A 1.25-litre (42 oz) glass carafe holds up to 8 cups and sits on a heated plate that keeps the coffee hot after brewing.
The brew basket lifts out for cleaning, and Pause and Pour lets you remove the carafe mid-brew to pour a cup before the pot is finished.
The Coventry runs on buttons, with no clock or programmable start. A side-facing water window has level lines showing exactly how many cups will brew.

We like the product but after nine months of use the "sneak a cup" part in the filter basket broke off and could not be replaced because maker is discontinued.TR54 · August 8, 2022 · Verified

Unpack the machine, then wash the carafe, lid and brew basket in warm soapy water and rinse well.
Fill the tank to the top level line with fresh water and run one brew with no coffee to rinse the inside of the machine.
Set the coffeemaker on a flat, heat-safe counter with room above for the lid and near a socket, keeping the cord clear of the warming plate.
Fit a #4 cone paper filter in the basket, add about one scoop of ground coffee per cup, fill the tank to the matching line in the water window and start the brew.
For most buyers, yes: we score it 4.2 out of 5. The Coventry's even, showerhead-style brewing makes smoother coffee than its simple controls suggest, and Pause and Pour and a clear water window cover the everyday basics.
Rated 4.2 out of 5 across 64 user ratings, with 60% giving it five stars and 6% one star.
Takes up a fair amount of counter space for an 8-cup machine. No timer or programmable start.
Wash the carafe and brew basket after each use so coffee oils don't build up. Descale every month or two with a vinegar and water cycle, then run plain water through twice.
A medium grind suits a cone paper filter. Too fine and the water backs up and over-extracts, too coarse and the coffee tastes thin.
The Coventry's even, showerhead-style brewing makes smoother coffee than its simple controls suggest, and Pause and Pour and a clear water window cover the everyday basics. It is bigger than you'd expect for 8 cups, has no timer, and still needs paper filters.
If taste matters more to you than features, the Coventry is a good, uncomplicated brewer. Stock up on #4 cone filters and check the counter space first. If you want coffee ready when you wake up, choose a programmable model.
